LUKA

The place where it all started, and grew to what it is now. The LUKA project was my first stab at a visual creative from many years back, and blossomed into what you’ll be able to explore below. LUKA was the brand and imagery surrounding my career as a touring DJ as well what would transition into my early days into the visual creative space in branding, graphic design, photography, and filmmaking.

Graphics, Posters, & Cover Art

The LUKA Project was the home base, a place to experiment and execute new systems, practices, and concepts, mainly because it was my own, through and through. Coming from being a touring DJ & creative, this would be my platform to test and explore different methods that could help bring a more rigid approach to handling future projects, wether they be related to music & artistry or not. Wether it was weekly gig schedules, or building an entire campaign to announce a redirection in what the project was doing, the LUKA project & brand would lay a foundation and framework to how I would look at and develop every project I’ve done to date.

I wanted a lot of the brand language to be surrounded around dark, enigmatic textures and spaces, while feeling real to a certain degree. Taking photos around cities I was touring to, from different wall, poster, and plastic textures, and finding ways to inlay the graphic designs into them, made them feel more real at the time, and helped unify, and utilize a lot of the photography work I was posting. Later developing retouching skills and building upon the graphic design tools I had, I wanted to try and bring a sense of flow to everything, even though in reality it was a little all over the place on the back end.

The dark look was something that I always loved, but I wanted to make it mine, and in doing so, worked to translate that into as many mediums I was capable of. From graphic design, photography, and filmmaking, the LUKA project was the exploration of how to make it all possible, while still maintaining a career in music & touring, designing and creating for others, and not to mention still being in college during the time. All the constraints and input catered towards having to learn fast or be left behind.
