Electric Hotel Chicago

One of Chicago’s Premier Nightclubs, Electric Hotel seeks to carve out its own identity amongst an ever growing scene of nightlife. Differentiating itself from the start as one of the few venues in the city that has late night licensing, allowing the space to be opened an extra few hours than venues without one. From high end bottle service packages, performances from A-list artists, and underground parties, Electric Hotel would be hard pressed not to satisfy the appetites of the people of the night. My Roll for EH was one of multi-faceted nature, wether it was implementing design structure and strategy for high volume designs, designing and developing products and merch for the club to sell to patrons, social media copywriting & marketing, a slew of both print & digital promotion and advertisements, photo + video editing & retouching, or content management and creation (frequently and regularly picked up the camera for both photo and video), I was hands on to everything the club wanted or needed.

Sundays Art Direction - Series One

Starting out as “ALL INN SUNDAYS,” a Sunday night party a few friends and I started at EH (Electric Hotel), meant to tie together the all “inclusive” feeling of a party, while simultaneously playing fun at the hotel name / spelling association. I had the idea of building a visual to mimmic a physical card, and in this case a “room key.” Trying to bring a different visual feel, to what was at the time, a dated & boring pastel of poster design and fliers for competing venues and clubs, this gave a feel of looking at something real, and not just another piece of promo content. While aligning an idea we had to supply membership cards to patrons to reap benefits such as discounts and free merchandise from visiting the night frequently.

Sundays Art Direction - Series Two + One Offs

Carrying over certain cues and ideas we had for the initial party visual direction, this new template design was built to focus on a growing frequency of larger artist bookings. Swapping out artist press imagery for content picturing and surrounding the club itself enabled an efficient and diverse amount of content to be used from week to week, while keeping a strong brand recognition and unique aesthetic.

With large scale bottle orders being a nightly ordeal, we wanted to try and make use of this normality, and sell the idea to a larger market of willing individuals and groups. People will normally come in asking what specials and deals there are with larger scale orders for their party or group, so we came up with the idea of “accommodating” these kinds of patrons with a menu of original content and imagery to not only sell the products themself, but also the new branding efforts of Electric Hotel simultaneously.

Multi-Use Promotional Graphics

Content is always king. During COVID-19 Era, with heavy restrictions limiting space and capacity, we had to push hard with marketing efforts, and try to get out as much promotional content without getting stale. Highlighting imagery of what was once normal on any given night within the club, to try and capture a market craving a pre-pandemic nighttime experience, this template enabled the use of the brand’s logo as well as the diverse range of content kept on file capture at, and of the club.
